Organizational Context

Centre for Development and Capacity Building (CDCB) is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization established by a group of practitioners, civic organization leaders and academia. CDCB’s key goal is empowering the people through strengthening institutional and leadership capacity via independent research, tailor-made capacity building trainings, organizing high level forums and implementing innovative projects to be scaled up by government and development partners. CDCB is a proactive and growing organization whose scopes are promoting democratic values, human right, justice, peaceful and happy life for citizens and whose strategies are networking volunteerism, partnership for effective and efficient delivery. In partnership with USAID/ETHIOPIA/Dexis Currently we are planning to implement youth peace building initiative in oromia regional state selected towns of Batu, Arsi Negle and Shashamane. Therefore, for this initiative we are seeking an experienced, dedicated and competent Community Volunteer qualified as per the following qualification.

Role overview

The purpose of this initiative is to engage youth in peace building, social cohesion and community engagement activities with local partner organizations and key stakeholders, including community members and leaders, government institutions.

Job Description

Under general supervision of the project coordinator the Community volunteer will advocate for peace in their respective communities.

Assignment Title: –   Community Volunteer

Duration: 3 months

Location: Batu, Arsi Negle and Shashamane

Number of Position: 15 Individual Volunteer at each targeted area (Batu =15 Arsi Negle=15 Shashamane =15)

Remuneration:  As CDCB volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full-time basis. CDCB will cover your transportation and basic cost that are directly related to your engagement.

Responsibilities/ Duties

The youth Volunteers will have six general areas of responsibilities/Duties. As shown below:

Community partnership management

Sharing skills, awareness and knowledge

Community Engagement Planning and Mobilization

Youth Engagement Intervention

Planning, Implementation, Reporting, Documentation and Communication

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience in social media marketing or other related fields.
