Happy New Year 2023!

Happy New Year 2023!

The CDCB extend greetings of the New Year 2023 in a sober mood; not so ecstatic about events of the preceding year. Undoubtedly, the year 2022 has been full of not so good events and images locally and globally. Locally, we had bad conflict in which citizens passed away; citizens displaced; and assets destroyed. Globally, we witnessed Russia – Ukraine devastating war in which several parties took side, unfortunately.

Here in our country in addition to the war in the northern part of the country conflicts in other regional states had sadly resulted in the death and displacement of citizens.  Drought induced disaster had its high toll on the livestock in the south and southeast. A research team of the CDCB had incidentally recorded images of carcasses scattered all around the route to their mission Borana zone of Oromia. In consequence the conflicts and the droughts are badly affected livelihood of communities exposing thousands to a sort of hidden hunger.

The good side, however, has been the recent promising development that silenced the guns in the north! Agreement has been reached to end hostilities in the north of the country that is still holding. We are so happy about it. Still we earnestly expect the move to extend to the entire country. No part of the whole should be left out to suffer in the event of gloomy scenario elsewhere.

As for the CDCB, we have been doing our part towards peacemaking jointly with our Donor Partners and stakeholders.  We greet them with joy for good health and welfare in the New Year 2023. It is our hope and belief that we continue to address issues common to the good of humanity.

Happy New Year!!
